Hagoos, a company of tourism consultants responsible for managing technical assistance in the field of Family Tourism for Basquetour, organises the 1st Conference on Family Tourism in the Basque Country, on the 12th and 13th at the Modelo hall in Zarautz, and at the Arraunetxe in Orio, respectively. The event on the 12th involved an extensive programme of talks taking a closer look at trends in family tourism and, more specifically, at the keys enabling the Basque Country to become a perfect tourist destination for families visiting us with children. Aspects such as the consumer habits of travelling families, keys for commercialisation, examples of best practices in the Basque tourism sector and the challenges faced by the Basque Country as a ‘Family Friendly’ destination were the main themes of the event.
The more than 150 attendees had the opportunity to hear representatives of national agencies including Viajes Eroski; international, like the German tour operator Vamos Eltern-Kind-Reisen; the Galicia Family Tourism cluster; and the Spanish Large Families Federation’s Family Tourism Stamp consultancy firm, as well as the head of destinations at TripAdvisor, among many others.
For its part, the conference held on the 13th in Orio had the theme of “Real family holidays”, consisting of workshops with the different companies in the sector, part of the product club. The attendees also saw how some of the tourist resources in the Urola Kosta region have been working on Family Tourism, such as the Zumaia Campsite, the Talai Berri txakoli winery and the active tourism company, Begi Bistan.
These events are part of the “Euskadi Family Tourism” project, promoted by Basquetour with the objective of backing Basque companies in the tourism sector as they adapt to the needs of families travelling with children. An initiative already joined by 160 companies throughout the Basque territory and which includes aspects ranging from accommodation, catering companies, museums and activities companies, etc.
These events were possible thanks to Basquetour and Zarautz Town Council, with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government and the Urola Kosta region.
Hagoos offers tourism consultancy based on an independent and dynamic approach committed to the development of responsible tourism.
