Visiting the most popular markets or an authentic Gastronomic Society, having fun on the famous pintxo tours, learning about wine pairings and tastings with expert oenologists, enjoying cookery classes to suit all palates… A wide raft of culinary experiences enabling you to participate in the world of Basque cuisine yesterday and today.
Traditional markets continue to run every week in different places, bringing seasonal produce within reach of our kitchens, and visiting them is most certainly one of the best ways to learn a little more about our gastronomy. For example, the town of Ordizia has been holding its farmer’s market since 1512. On Saturdays it’s the turn of Tolosa, former capital of the province of Gipuzkoa. In Bizkaia, Gernika market is held on Mondays, and the fishing village of Bermeo holds its fish fair every year in the month of May.
