Creating a good social programme for an event or conference can largely determine its success. Here the importance of enjoying special experiences you won’t find anywhere else becomes truly important, lending added value and a different touch to every event. As a MICE destination, the Basque Country offers countless possibilities when designing social activities to complement an event, and at Hagoos we are experts in designing programmes to create synergies between participants. Depending on the event type and tastes, cultural, gastronomic, sporting activities also enable participants to relax and assimilate the concepts acquired in talks, speeches and training sessions. One example of this is the social programme designed by Hagoos for the 1st World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism held in San Sebastian at the Basque Culinary Center. Tourism and food increasingly go hand in hand; that’s why the social programme designed for the event endeavoured to convey aspects of Basque culture associated to tradition and gastronomy. Participants had the opportunity to discover the seafaring tradition of Zumaia and Getaria, the cider culture, Ordizia market, the land of Idiazabal cheese, the pintxo culture, etc. A carefully-made selection of the activities that best represent our foodie culture. And for attendees wishing to extend their stay with us, Hagoos proposed a varied offer of tourist activities and experiences all over the Basque Country for the days before and after the meeting. The meeting was possible thanks to the work of the Basque Culinary Center and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), with the collaboration of Basquetour, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and San Sebastian City Council.
