Hagoos, a DMC in San Sebastian, designs the social programme for the 1st World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, held at the Basque Culinary Center. Tourism and gastronomy increasingly go hand in hand; that’s why the social programme designed for the event endeavoured to convey aspects of Basque culture connected to tradition and economy. The participants had the opportunity to discover the seafaring tradition of Zumaia and Getaria, the cider culture, Ordizia market, the land of Idiazabal cheese, the pintxo culture… A carefully made selection of the activities best representing our foodie culture. And for participants wishing to extend their stay with us, Hagoos offered a variety of tourism activities and experiences in different parts of the Basque Country for the days before and after the meeting. During the Forum, experts discussed the current situation and the challenges facing the gastronomy tourism sector, aiming to promote its professional development, exchange experiences and identify best practices around the world. This meeting was held thanks to the work of the Basque Culinary Center and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), with the collaboration of Basquetour, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and San Sebastian City Council.
